Chapel Hill Tire challenges community to send 2020 out on a wave of good cheer
Chapel Hill, NC (Monday, November 16, 2020) – This year, the two-thousand and twentieth anniversary of the event celebrated by Christians the world over on December 25th, has certainly seen its share of chaos and craziness. As Marc Pons, president and co-owner of Chapel Hill Tire, contemplated the coming holiday season, he thought this would be a good time for all of us to get together and send the old year out on a tsunami of kindness and good cheer.
“We’ve had enough anxiety and contention to last a lifetime these past 12 months,” said Pons, “and, you know, that’s just not us, especially here in the Triangle. I was born here, and I have always known our communities to be warm, welcoming, generous, and inclusive. Right now, I think, is a great time for us to get back in touch with those roots, and get together as neighbors in a spirit of good will and good cheer. That’s the inspiration behind the 12 Days Of Kindness.”
The program launches on Monday, November 16, when Chapel Hill Tire will use social media, radio, email marketing, in-store signage, and a special website to encourage people in the Triangle to perform an act of kindness, either for an individual or a charitable organization, and record it on video (or photos, if video isn’t possible).
“You can perform your act of kindness by yourself, with friends, family or co-workers, any time between November 16 and December 24,” said Pons. “We’d like you to spread the cheer by posting it, with a brief description, to Chapel Hill Tire’s Facebook page, or your Instagram or Twitter account. Please include the hashtag #cht12days, so that we can capture it for display on our special website, 12days.chapelhilltire.com.
“Then, for 12 days, starting on Sunday, December 13, we will capture all posts with the #cht12days hashtag, review them for appropriate content, and post all that we approve to 12days.chapelhilltire.com.” Everyone whose post is approved can receive $10 off on their next service at Chapel Hill Tire, simply by showing their post to the service advisor at checkout.
“And for a little more fun, we’ve added a voting mechanism and leaderboard to 12days.chapelhilltire.com,” said Pons, “so be sure to get your friends to come and vote for you from Sunday, December 13 through Thursday, December 24, because in the week after Christmas, we will award a $3,000 donation to the charity of your choice to the post with the most votes, a $2,000 donation to the second place finisher, and $1,000 donation to third place.”
Complete details, including terms and conditions, plus instructions on how to shoot a good video with your smartphone, are available at 12days.chapelhilltire.com. “We will also include a couple of example acts of kindness that we are performing, in case you need some thought-starters,” said Pons. “We expect this to be a lot of fun, and to show everyone that this is just a great place to live, filled with wonderful people. So join us, get a group together, get your kindness in gear, and let’s put a cap of good cheer on 2020!”
