Chapel Hill, NC (October 16, 2024) – Chapel Hill Tire is excited to announce the graduation of its inaugural Leadership Development Program class, a group of seven employees who have completed an intensive nine-month curriculum designed to enhance their leadership skills and prepare them for future growth within the company. This program is part of Chapel Hill Tire’s ongoing commitment to fostering leadership from within.
The Leadership Development Program challenges participants to think critically about their roles as leaders in the store, with a focus on productivity, effective time management, and workforce management. Each cohort member is guided through hands-on leadership exercises, accountability partnerships, and strategic planning discussions.
“As a company, we believe in nurturing future leaders by equipping them with the tools they need to grow,” said Marc Pons, President of Chapel Hill Tire, who kicked off the program with an overview of the company’s strategic plan. “This program is a critical part of our Work Happy, Drive Happy initiative, and I am incredibly proud of these graduates. They represent the next generation of leaders at Chapel Hill Tire.”
Stephen Hall, L2 Manager, who developed the program, added, “The goal was to create a learning environment where participants could not only grow their leadership skills but also bring real issues to the table and work through them. This program fosters open, honest dialogue, and the participants’ dedication to their personal growth has been outstanding.”
The nine-month program included a range of activities such as leadership self-assessments, quizzes, team-building exercises, and a role swap where each participant served as acting Store Manager for two weeks. Participants also led "Lunch and Learns" to practice their leadership in real-time. Additionally, each session was designed with hands-on homework, and feedback mechanisms, ensuring that participants left each meeting with tangible skills and insights. Confidentiality agreements encouraged participants to bring real challenges to the table for discussion.
“We’ve already seen the immediate impact of the program,” said Pons. “Three of the seven graduates have already been promoted to Store Manager positions, demonstrating the program’s effectiveness in preparing future leaders.”
Graduates were celebrated at a special ceremony where each presented what they had learned throughout the program. The success of this first cohort paves the way for future Leadership Development Program participants and sets a new standard for professional growth within Chapel Hill Tire.
